Remind me!

This is about the episode #19 of 오늘의 표현.

Remind me to take out the trash later.
나중에 쓰레기 버려야되는 거 좀 알려줘.

Did you remind the kids to do their homework?
애들한테 숙제하라고 얘기했어요?

(I borrowed my friend's cell phone.)
Remind me to give this back to you later.
나중에 돌려달라고 얘기해줘.

Remind me to pay you back later.
돈 갚으라고 나중에 얘기 좀 해줘.

This reminds me of when I used to study 한자(Chinese Character) here.
이걸 보니 예전에 여기서 한자 공부 했던 게 생각난다.

Wishy-washy

This is about the 18th episode of Expression of the day (오늘의 표현).

우유부단하다.
: having no color, firm ideas, principles, or noticeable qualities of any type

1. indecisive (일반적이고 표준인 표현)
• That guy is so indecisive! (저 남자는 너무 우유부단하다!)
2. He's always changing his mind. (그는 늘 맘을 바꾼다)
3. vacillate
• He kept vacillating between two presidential candidates.
• (그는 대통령 후보 둘 사이에서 계속 왔다갔다 하고 있다.)
4. wishy-washy (onomatopoeic; 의태어)
• His critics contend that he has been wishy-washy on important issues. 
• (그의 비평은 그가 중요 쟁점들에 대해 오락가락 해왔다고 주장한다.)
5. flip-flop
• He flip-flopped on the issue. 
• (그 일에 대해 그는 이랬다 저랬다 한다.)

I need someone to help me with English

I can read and understand English sentences.
And my grammar is not that bad I think.
But the writing is still very hard for me because of the word order in English sentence.
As most Korean learners have difficulty using honorific(높임말),
I have difficulties coming up with proper words and ordering words.
So,..
I'm currently looking for English native speakers who are learning Korean 'seriously'.
We can help each other improve language skills with back and forth corrections.

I get that a lot

I get that a lot. 그런 말 많이 들어요.

I think this expression is quite useful in everyday talk.
이 표현은 일상대화에서 꽤 유용할 것 같아요.

• somebody : wow You look like Tobey Maguire! 와, 토비 맥과이어 닮았어요.
• Michael : I get that a lot. 예 그런 말 많이 들어요;;

• A : You look European. 유럽사람 같아요.
• B : Yeah, I get that a lot. 예, 그런 소리 많이 듣습니다.

• You have a southern accent. 남부 사투리 쓰시네요.
• I get that a lot. Actually I'm from Colorado. 그런 말 많이 듣습니다. 근데, 사실 전 콜로라도 출신입니다.

Ulsan Metropolitan City, South Korea

Today I'm going to introduce Ulsan city I've been living in since 2010.
Ulsan has many major corporations including Hyundai Motor, Hyundai Heavy Industries(HHI), SK Energy. I used to work at HHI as a senior programmer a few years ago. Even though the experiences there were very hard, the backgrounds help me improve my skills. But! I'll never do it again because those were very demanding jobs I've ever met.
Ulsan has many great parks such as Ulsan Grand Park(울산 대공원), Shipnidaebat(십리대밭), Seonam Lake Park.
and has the only whale museum in Korea, Jangsaengpo Whale Museum(장생포 고래 박물관).
and there are much more beautiful places to go such as Paraeso Falls(파래소 폭포), Jujeon Mongdol Beach(몽돌 해수욕장), the amazing mountains Youngnam Alps(영남 알프스), and so on.
And you can drive to Gyeongju National Park in 30 mins because Ulsan is facing that historic city.
Oh my god it's too hard to introduce my town.
Anyway, you can reach me and ask a favour or something when you come to Ulsan ^^;;

I need some inspiration

Honestly I ran out of subject on my journal.
It's the time you guys tell me something.
What do you want me to tell?
I don't know.. I have few things to write here at this moment.
I found the best place to write something enthusiastically.
Stackoverflow.com : question and answer site for programmers
It is a huge site which has a remarkable library for every answer finders.
I'm going to try to post some questions I've been wondering.
Actually I submitted my first question about programmer's tool yesterday.
I didn't get any answer yet. :(
But I'm not going to be depressed till I receive the first answer.
Nobody knows ~ Maybe it'll take forever haha.

I am a programmer

As you know I'm a programmer who's still struggling with tons of bugs(not the real bugs).
I've experienced in this field almost for 10 years.
But don't even think about the hacker or something nerd.
I had to learn many things as year goes by. For me it was not enjoyable jobs.
The only thing I love to code is iOS app programming. It gives me freshness I think.
But the market share of the iPhone in Korea is not that good.
so most companies don't want to invest any money for a tiny number of people.
It makes me gloomy and unhappy.
I just want to leave this world.

Well.. I'm tired. I think I'd better go to bed now.

I love hamburgers

and my wife’s one was a set of The Quarter Pounder with cheese.

Yeah~ We’re loving it. tada~ McDonald’s^^

I took them out by Drive Thru. I really like that procedure much.

If I could live somewhere in US, I may have no problem with food at least.

This is on the house

I’ve been listening to the EnglishInKorean podcast by Michael Elliott for months. I’ve never seen that kind of material suits me perfect. I really love it. As usual, I listened to an episode of EiK today. I picked up the special expression for Korean. 

This is on the house 

which means ‘Let the restaurant get this’ I guess.

But at the Korean restaurant, you can easily hear like this:

This is the service (이건 서비스에요)

Michael thought it came from the phrase of ‘the part of the service’. I think he didn’t recommend it. Because it’s slightly awkward. right?

There are tons of common mistakes like this among Koreans. I’ll introduce you some of them later. It’ll be fun. ㅋ.

Beginning a Journal

Hi~ I’m YouSung from Ulsan, Korea.

I’ve been studying English for many years since I was a middle schooler.

But honestly I haven’t done the best. :( 

Today, I’m going to start writing a journal in English!

I’ll do the best to write things every day if I can.

I will tell you about Korean culture, my thoughts, programmer’s life in Korea, things like that..
